Birthday Morning Means Donuts!

Chuck's Donut shop, up in the Renton Highlands, has been around for many years. I remember going there when I was still living at home, and one of my sisters worked there in high school. They always had the best donuts, and they still do (in my opinion!) My favorite is the maple bar, which has wonderful frosting.

When I was working 4-10 hour days, I would have Fridays off. Chloe and I would get donuts before I took her to school on Friday. It was a nice little tradition that had to come to an end when I went back to work 5 days a week. Nowadays, we like to go to Chuck's when we can (which isn't often). It's been relegated to a special treat.

So for Chloe's birthday breakfast, she wanted to go to Chuck's. I got my maple bar, and she got her chocolate bar and sprinkle donut. Ray got two chocolate twisty ones. I really miss going every week!

Chloe's Birthday

We celebrated Chloe's birthday last Friday night (the 3rd). We took a few family members to Red Robin for dinner, and then to a movie - Monsters vs. Aliens 3D. Dinner was fun, it was nice to see everyone enjoying themselves. Chloe opened some presents, and the waiters sang to her and gave her a sundae. I got to have my favorite RR dinner - Cajun Clucks and Fries, and shared them with Ray (you can see his fingers in the pic above - hee).

After dinner, I gave everyone their 3D glasses, and we had a good time trying them on. Below is Chloe with her auntie at the movie theater. It was a pretty funny movie, we all liked it. The glasses were just a bonus. LOL!

Birthday Week!

Ray and I were born 3 days apart, and this past week was our birthday week. It also was my first week on Weight Watchers, so that was a lot of fun too (ha ha).

The Keg restaurant is kind enough to send out free meal postcards on your birthday, so we went there twice this week! My sister also took us out to Thai food on Thursday night, and that was great. There's a Thai restaurant right near her place that's really good. Even Chloe likes it!

On my birthday, my friends Nicole and Carrie took me out to lunch at McCormick's and Schmick's, which is one of my favorite restaurants. The restaurant made up menus just for me that said "Happy Birthday Janette!!!" right at the top! It was so cool.

Then another of my friends, Jessica, took me out on break to the 2nd-largest Starbucks in the nation. I had never been there before, and it's actually pretty close to our building. I also got a lot of cards, and some pretty spiffy gifts, too. On Facebook, I had a ton of posts on my Wall from my friends to say "Happy Birthday", which was so nice to see. So all in all, it was a pretty cool birthday week.

Some More Snow

We had a light dusting of snow this morning that pretty much has melted away. Still, it was fun to yell "Snow!" at Chloe this morning and open the blinds so she could see. The kitties wanted to go outside, but nothing doing. I suppose they would have run right back in, but you never know. I don't want to be chasing kitties in the cold.

I'm running a load of dishes in our new dishwasher. It was installed Friday night, and we've already used it a couple of times. I think Ray just ran a load that first night because he could. LOL! It's a lot nicer than our old dishwasher, nice options, nice configuration, and running it has been very quiet! We used to run our dishwasher sometimes just to drown out our Noisy Cursing Neighbor, but this one won't work for that! Luckily, N.C.N. has calmed down a bit lately, so maybe we won't need to invent another way to drown him out.

We also had an electrician come out on Friday. We have been having problems with one of our heaters not turning off. Turned out to be a problem with our thermostat, but the electrician also replaced the circuit breaker. Ray said he had a look like he had just prevented a house fire, so it was a good thing he did! I've been so afraid to run the heat constantly, that it's been pretty cold in here the last few weeks, and I caught a nasty cold.

Yes, I'm sick again. I'm feeling a lot better today than I was on Friday and Saturday. Still have a bit of a cough, but much better.

Yesterday, I was able to get my 365 Project pages scrapped, and also made a little mini notebook with one of my new tools, the Bind-it-All. It punches holes for binding, and then binds your project with O-wires. I used coasters, covered them with patterned paper, and used white papers for the inside pages. I tied little ribbons on the wires. It looks pretty nice!

I'm currently on the lookout for a new printer. My old faithful HP Photosmart 7350 died. I liked it because I could print photos in various size from 2" x 3" to 8" x 10, but also print out text for Chloe's school work on it. That's what I'm looking to replace, but the HP site recommends replacing it with an All-in-One printer that's pretty big, and has too many options for my needs. And I'm not sure if it will print the little 2" x 3" pics, either. Can't find many printers that specify that they will print that size.

Ah....Sunday...onto my and Ray's Birthday Week!
